Barenaked Ladies: New Album. Free. No DRM. Now.
The songs will only be free through the first few downloads, and will start to rise after that. But even at full price, listeners are getting quality music, DRM-free. Let’s hope other labels follow Nettwerk shortly. Market driven prices and no DRM = Music Nirvana.
Their business model is by initially giving out free downloads. Then, as more people download each song, the price starts to rise. It's a very good model as are higher priced song means that the song must be good and popular.
Too late, most songs are now above $0.50 cents now. Damn I missed the free downloads. But you can still download the full quality (192kb/s) version albeit cropped to show the first minute of the song.
